What a Ductless Mini-Split Repair Involves
We start at the indoor head, because that is usually where the symptom shows. We read the error code the system is reporting, check airflow across the coil, and look at the condensate line and drain pan for the clog that causes wall drips. Then we move outside to the condenser and the line set. Mini-splits are inverter driven, so a bad control board or communication wire can look exactly like a refrigerant problem. We test rather than guess, then explain what we found and what the repair takes.
What We Check on the System
Indoor blower wheel and filters, coil cleanliness, condensate drain and pump, and the thermistors that tell the system what the room temperature actually is. Outside we check the condenser fan, the reversing valve on heat pump models, capacitors, contactors, and the electrical connections at the disconnect. We verify refrigerant charge and inspect the line set flare fittings, since a slow leak at a poorly made connection is a common cause on units installed in a hurry. On multi-zone systems we confirm each branch box valve is opening.
How We Decide Repair Is the Right Call
We look at the age of the equipment, whether replacement parts are still available for that model, and how many separate failures we are finding. A single capacitor or a clogged drain is an easy repair. A failed compressor on a system past its useful life with a leaking line set is a different conversation, especially in our region where humidity keeps these units working hard most of the year. We give you what we found, both options, and let you decide without pressure.

Why is my mini-split head dripping water onto the wall?
Usually a blocked condensate drain or a dirty coil that lets water sling past the pan. Turn the unit off to limit damage and call us. Clearing the line and cleaning the coil normally solves it.
One zone stopped cooling but the others still work. What causes that?
Often the branch box valve for that zone, a communication wire fault, or a failed thermistor in that head. The outdoor unit is generally fine. We test each zone individually to find which component quit.
What does the blinking light on my indoor unit mean?
It is an error code, and the pattern points to a specific fault such as low refrigerant, a sensor failure, or a communication problem between the indoor and outdoor units. Tell us the pattern when you call.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill out the quote form and describe what the system is doing. Warm air, short cycling, water on the floor, a smell, a noise. That detail tells us what parts to load on the truck.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow through the filter and coil, refrigerant behaviour and the ductwork. You hear what we found in plain language before anything gets replaced or repaired.
- Step 3
You approve the fix
We explain the repair, what it costs and what happens if you wait a season. Nothing gets done without your go-ahead, and we tell you honestly when a repair no longer makes sense.

Why homeowners call us
- We know humid-climate systemsAcross the region the real enemy is moisture. Systems here run long hours pulling water out of the air, and that shows up as frozen coils, clogged drains and mildew smells. We diagnose for humidity, not just temperature.
- Mixed gas and heat pump workPlenty of homes we visit run a heat pump with gas backup, and the two have to hand off cleanly. We troubleshoot both sides, including defrost boards, reversing valves, ignitors and heat exchanger concerns.
- Attic ductwork is our daily breadMid-century homes often have ducts running through attics that hit brutal temperatures. Crushed runs, disconnected boots and leaking joints steal cooling before it reaches the room. We find them instead of blaming the equipment.
- Repair before replaceA capacitor, a contactor, a blower motor or a clogged drain line fixes a lot of the calls we take. We would rather fix what you have and tell you plainly when the numbers stop working.
